Maskay Metaverse: The First Metaverse for Emerging Artists from the Argentine NOA

An innovative proposal that transcends physical and digital boundaries, curated by Pablo Rivero

Maskay Metaverse, a pioneering project in digital art, emerges as the first metaverse created for emerging artists from the NOA (Northwest Argentina) region. Curated by Pablo Rivero, designer, artist, and founder of Maskay, this digital space explores technological possibilities from the periphery, addressing the limitations and challenges faced by artists in contexts of technological inequality.

“These works are not just images uploaded to the internet with a click,” explains Rivero. “They are part of a complex context that includes poor internet connectivity and lack of access to digitization tools like cameras, scanners, or photogrammetry. Overcoming these barriers has been our mission since 2021, providing a space for those who don’t have one in the physical world because ‘everything is already taken.’”

The metaverse was developed in collaboration with Ángeles Franco, an architect from Jujuy, who designed a space called “Lo Azul” (“The Blue”), an immersive environment symbolizing communication and transparency. In this space, artworks are not only displayed but also elevated within a thoughtfully crafted context.

Maskay: A Web3 Community with Social Impact

Maskay is a Web3 community of creators and artists from the NOA region, born from a relentless pursuit of innovation and exploration in digital art and blockchain technology. Its mission is to democratize knowledge and access to digital tools, offering opportunities for development in a region where technological, educational, and economic disparities create significant distance from the world’s urban sociocultural centers.

Maskay Metaverse is not just a digital space but a gateway to the future of art and technological inclusion in northern Argentina.
